Collaboration with Ioannis Rigopoulos, a Marie Curie Research fellow at the University of Cyprus, results in a publication in Applied Geochemistry on the potential for enhanced weathering of ball-milled Mg-rich rock to capture CO2.
A collaboration with Vasileios Mavromatis of GET, Toulouse, France, leads to a publication in Geochimica et Cosmochimica Acta on the fractionation of strontium in carbonate minerals.
A fun day at University College London open day showing off the research and Earth Science programs at UCL!
DryMin research was presented at Goldschmidt 2017 in a talk entitled: "Mineral Growth under water-limited conditions." The entire week of the international geochemistry conference, Goldschmidt, was filled with new insights across many areas of geochemistry. DryMin research was presented at the Gordon Research Seminar in New London, USA. The potential applications for CO2 storage via mineral weathering under dry conditions were presented to students and post docs interested in a variety of aspects of CO2 capture, utilization, and storage at this interdisciplinary and collegial seminar. Two days of beam time at the Swiss Light Source Synchrotron facility provided exciting images of the formation of carbonate minerals in extremely water-limited conditions. Thanks goes to DryMIN collaborator, Catherine Noiriel, for sharing her expertise during long hours at the beam line!
